Pixar Drops First ‘Toy Story 5’ Teaser Featuring New Character Lilypad

Pixar has released the first teaser for Toy Story 5, offering fans a glimpse into the next chapter in the beloved franchise. The animated feature is set to arrive in theaters on June 19, 2026, and the teaser introduces a new character who may pose one of the biggest challenges Buzz, Woody, and the rest of the toys have faced yet.

The teaser centers around Lilypad, a frog-shaped smart tablet designed for kids, voiced by Greta Lee (Past Lives, The Morning Show, TRON: Ares). Unlike many of the tech-based toys seen in previous installments, Lilypad is highly advanced and a bit disruptive. With interactive features and an ability to interact directly with playtime, Lilypad’s arrival turns the toy box upside down. The teaser suggests that this sleek piece of modern technology may challenge the more traditional toys in ways they never expected, raising the question posed in the teaser itself: “Is the age of toys over?”

Fan-favorite characters are also returning. Tom Hanks is back as cowboy Woody, Tim Allen returns as Buzz Lightyear, and Joan Cusack once again voices Jessie. Pixar also confirmed that Conan O’Brien has joined the cast as a toilet-training gadget toy named Smarty Pants, adding new comedic energy to the lineup.

Toy Story 5 is directed by Academy Award® winner Andrew Stanton, known for WALL•E, Finding Nemo, and Finding Dory. Kenna Harris (Ciao Alberto) serves as co-director, with Lindsey Collins (Turning Red, WALL•E, Finding Dory) producing.

While the teaser doesn’t give away much of the plot, it sets expectations for a story focused on evolving childhood, loyalty, identity, and the changing meaning of playtime in a digital age – core themes that have defined the Toy Story franchise from the beginning.

Watch the teaser below now! We are looking forward to learning more details as the film approaches its summer 2026 release.
