Selfie sticks banned from Walt Disney World attractions

A selfie stick is a telescoping rod designed to hold a cellphone at a better angle for a “selfie” photo. Cast members have been asked to tell any guest carrying one that it will have to be put away for the time they’re on the attraction. If a guest is seen using one while on the attraction, an announcement will be made over the PA or the attraction will be stopped. Disney has never allowed items to be held over the side of attraction vehicles, but this policy informs cast members how to deal with these particular items. The selfie sticks are currently not prohibited in the rest of the park. News source: WDW News Today Photo credit: Jaunted.com via WDW News Today
