“Selfie sticks” are no longer allowed on Walt Disney World attractions. A selfie stick is a telescoping rod designed to hold a cellphone at a better angle for a “selfie” photo. Cast members have been asked to tell any guest carrying one that it will have to be put away for the time they’re on the attraction. If a guest is seen using one while on the attraction, an announcement will be made over the PA or the attraction will be stopped. Disney has never allowed items to be held over the side of attraction vehicles, but this policy informs cast members how to deal with these particular items. The selfie sticks are currently not prohibited in the rest of the park.

Leah grew up in a little farming town in Illinois, right on the Mississippi River. Her Chicago-born husband, David, left the city for her, and they're now raising their three children (Jacob, Jonah and Lydia) just 12 miles from her hometown. As the Senior Editor of the DIS (wdwinfo.com), Leah spends a lot of time writing about, reading about, and discussing Disney. So, it should come as no surprise that one of her family's favorite ways to spend time is going to Walt Disney World and traveling on Disney Cruise Line. She also enjoys shopping, watching movies with her husband and doing crafts with and for her kids.
