The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for the Walt Disney World area, including both Osceola and Orange counties. Much of Central Florida is included in the watch as severe weather hits the state.
The Tornado Watch will remain effective through 9:00 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
The National Weather Service says that an intense line of thunderstorms currently in the eastern Gulf of Mexico will track across the central Florida Peninsula this afternoon. The strongest cells will pose a risk of locally damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes.
A few tornadoes and a couple of intense tornadoes are possible. Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph are likely.
