At last year’s D23 Expo, Disney announced a major transformation of EPCOT, and as part of that, a reimagining of Spaceship Earth. Today, Walt Disney World confirmed that they will being work on the “new vision” for Spaceship Earth starting May 26th.
The update “will focus on the story of humanity, following our long journey from prehistoric humans to today brought to life with magic and depth that only Disney can deliver.”
Some scenes will be updated and remain in the attraction, to be joined by some brand new scenes that help tell the story of our human experience. In Egypt, for example, the scene will be transformed with new lighting effects.
The attraction will also featuring new narration and a focus on how light plays a role in our shared journey, “coming to life in dynamic ways in a celebration of the magic that’s possible when we all come together.”
Disney says that this will be the most ambitious updated since the park opened in 1982.
