Walt Disney World has donated 200 Easter lilies that would normally be gracing the parks this weekend to local seniors to be delivered along with their Meals on Wheels delivery from the Osceola Council on Aging.
Michelle Giger Rohrmann, a horticulture Cast Member who managers the nursery that grows the flowers, spearheaded the effort, saying that she’s glad that the flowers will still be enjoyed and hopes that they will be a bright spot in the day of the seniors.
Michelle continues:
To me, the lily is really symbolic of springtime – after a long, hard winter, the first thing to pop up is a lily. It’s a good representation of how we’ll come out of this together. We’ll pull through this. Better days are on their way.”
