
Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek officially announced during D23’s Destination D: Amazing Adventures that Pandora – The World of Avatar would be opening the summer of 2017! According to the Disney Parks Blog, guests will be welcomed into a new world of “floating mountains and bioluminescent plants.” Two exciting attractions will be part of the experience. Na’vi River Journey will “send guests down a sacred river hidden within a bioluminescent rainforest.” Avatar Flight of Passage will be a thrill attraction, on which guests will experience what it is like to ride a Banshee!
Names of new restaurants and stores were also announced at the event. First, Satu’li Canteen will be an immersive restaurant that features “Na’vi art and cultural items” from Pandora. Next, Windtraders will be a gift shop where guests can purchase “Na’vi items, toys, science kits, and more.” Lastly, an extremely unique “drink location” called Pongu Pongu will also be part of the new land!
