Voyage of the Little Mermaid never reopened with the parks after closing in 2020 due to the pandemic. The stage show in Disney’s Hollywood Studios utilized puppetry and special effects in an intimate theater to tell the story of The Little Mermaid. The story will be told once again in Fall 2024 when The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure opens at Walt Disney World.
The latest version of The Little Mermaid was a live-action adaptation, but Disney Live Entertainment looked to the original Walt Disney Animation Studios classic for the new show. It will be a fully reimagined theatrical production and it has been in the works for over a year. “Kiss the Girl” will be added to the show along with classic songs like “Part of Your World,” and “Poor Unfortunate Souls.”
Disney confirmed the show will still utilize puppets just like Voyage of the Little Mermaid, but the show will have a bigger focus on characters like Ariel and Prince Eric.
The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure opens in Fall 2024 in the Animation Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
