Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is almost open! The attraction is days away from Cast Member previews followed by Annual Passholders and DVC Members. The construction walls around the attraction were just removed giving guests an unobstructed glimpse of the exterior for the first time along with the attraction sign. This would be even more exciting had we not been able to see what was happening inside!
The second episode of “We Call It Imagineering” on YouTube focused on soundscapes with the final ten minutes of the video centered around Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Terence Blanchard was featured to discuss the ninety minutes of music he compiled for the queue experience. The real excitement came when Disney showed clips of musician PJ Morton riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure for the first time. Morton composed the original song for the finale titled, “Special Spice” which is sung by Anika Noni Rose, the voice of Tiana.
Morton’s song is being used during the big finale scene which is littered with details and Audio-Animatronics. It also shows that video screens will be used in the attraction to enhance backgrounds, but won’t necessarily be the main focus. There were plenty of shots featuring the critters of the bayou and a passing glance at Mama Odie. The attraction has a broad color palette that captures the density of the bayou at night as well as the vibrant colors associated with Mardi Gras and New Orleans.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens June 28 at Magic Kingdom. The attraction will utilize a Virtual Queue in its early days and will also be available as a Lightning Lane selection for Genie+.
