Walt Disney World Shares Additional Details on Holiday Experience Coming to Animal Kingdom

Disney’s Animal Kingdom is going to have more festive décor and new entertainment in every land of the park this holiday season. On Discovery Island at the center of the theme park, the magic of the holidays will come to life during the day and evening hours.

When guests walk across the bridge toward Discovery Island, they can feast their eyes on the celebration of winter that has been “hand-crafted by the eclectic community of artists who make the island their home.” The village will feature “sparkling white holiday decorations” along with animal-inspired luminaries along the rooftops, and wireframe lanterns in the shape of birds.

Also featured will be a “holiday gathering of winter animals – realized in the form of life-size, artisan-sculpted puppets” – on Discovery Island during the daytime hours. Reindeer, foxes, polar bears, penguins and more will interact with guests while musicians play festive music.

The rooftop luminaries and bird lanterns placed around Discovery Island will bring a warm and festive glow to the entire village as nighttime approaches. The Tree of Life will “awaken” with winter stories and familiar holiday-inspired music. The Tree of Life will “shimmer and sparkle throughout the night, alive with the magic of nature and the spirit of the holidays.”
