Amid a heated negotiation between Disney and union representatives, Disney workers could be seen chanting and carrying signs on Thursday at a rally near the Disney World entrance. Deadline reported on Thursday that “many of the protesters come from a coalition of six unions representing close to 42,000 WDW cast members known as the Services Trades Council Union (STCU). The coalition and Disney have been negotiating a new contract since the old one expired last October 1.”
Mark Hollis, Union President, commented on the rally, saying, “Disney workers need a raise (and) need it now; now is when that cost of living is impacting these workers.” Disney representatives responded: “We look forward to resuming discussions with the union and reaching an agreement that raises cast member wages.”
Negotiations continue with the next scheduled meeting on the books for next week.
