What’s New at Disney’s Fort Wilderness? Pool & Lobby Updates

If it’s been a while since your last stay at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, you might notice a few welcome changes the next time you visit.

Disney has officially unveiled an expanded Meadow Swimmin’ Pool area along with a refreshed Reception Outpost, giving guests even more reasons to spend time enjoying one of the most unique resorts at Walt Disney World.

While Fort Wilderness has always stood apart from the rest of Disney’s resort hotels with its towering pine trees, campsites, cabins, horseback riding, and laid-back atmosphere, these latest updates make the resort even more inviting without taking away the rustic charm that has made it a favorite for generations.

The biggest change is at the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool.

Disney has added a brand-new zero-entry pool alongside the existing pool, effectively doubling the amount of space available for guests to cool off and relax. Additional deck space has also been added, making it easier for families to spread out during busy afternoons.

Of course, the resort’s popular 67-foot corkscrew waterslide is still part of the experience, giving younger guests, and plenty of adults, another reason to spend a little extra time at the pool.

One detail longtime Disney fans will especially appreciate is a subtle tribute to River Country, Walt Disney World’s original water park that once operated next door to Fort Wilderness. Guests will find an old-fashioned barrel wagon featuring Mickey Mouse dressed in his camping gear, serving as a nostalgic nod to a piece of Disney history that many longtime visitors still remember fondly.

The welcome experience has also received a refresh.

Inside the Reception Outpost, guests will find a brighter, updated lobby designed to make the check-in process feel more comfortable and personal. Disney has also added several new pieces of artwork that fit perfectly with the resort’s outdoorsy theme.

Above the fireplace, Mickey Mouse and friends can be seen enjoying a relaxing day on the water, while three additional scenes feature Huey, Dewey, and Louie taking part in classic Fort Wilderness activities like camping, fishing, and archery.

The updates come at a great time for guests looking to spend more of their vacation enjoying everything the resort has to offer beyond the theme parks.

Fort Wilderness is home to horseback riding, canoe rentals, biking trails, golf cart rentals, archery experiences, and peaceful walking paths beneath towering cypress and pine trees. In the evenings, guests can gather around Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Campfire Sing-A-Long or head over to Pioneer Hall for the beloved Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, which has been entertaining Walt Disney World visitors for more than 50 years.

These recent updates at Fort Wilderness don’t change the resort’s charm, but they enhance what guests already love about the place. Families will find more space to relax, enjoy a smoother arrival, and discover additional Disney storytelling elements during their stay.
