WonderGround Gallery in Downtown Disney Shares Featured Artists for June 2019

Each month, the WonderGround Gallery in the Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort hosts artists who not only show off their work, but also demonstrate their methods and converse with guests.

This month’s Featured Artisan of the Month is The Little Friends of Printmaking.

The Little Friends of Printmaking first made a name for themselves by designing and silk screening concert posters. Today this husband-and-wife team, JW and Melissa Buchanan, work as illustrators and designers while continuing to spread the gospel of silkscreen to anyone inclined to listen through their fine art pursuits at exhibitions, lectures, and artists’ residencies worldwide. The Little Friends currently live in Los Angeles with lots of animals.

The Little Friends of Printmaking will appear on June 1, 2, 22, and 23 from 1 to 4 p.m.

The May Artist in Residence is Nidhi Chanani.

Nidhi Chanani is a freelance illustrator, cartoonist, and writer. After completing her undergrad literature degree at the University of California at Santa Cruz, she pursued a career in nonprofits. The desire to draw was too strong and in 2008 she enrolled in art school. Starting 2009, Nidhi began completing one illustration every day of the week in an effort she called “Every Day Love.” After following this practice for three years, she developed her narrative style and voice which helped launch her art career and business.

Nidhi was born in Calcutta and raised in suburban southern California. She creates because it makes her happy – with the hope that it can make others happy, too. Nidhi draws and dreams every day with her husband, daughter and their attention-loving cat in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Chanani will appear Saturdays, June 8, 15, 22, and 29 from p.m. 5 to 9 p.m.; Sundays, June 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 4 to 7 p.m.
