Whether it’s your number one Disney Park or the last on your visit list, there is no denying that Disney’s Animal Kingdom is unique. This is the land where Disney’s fantastical storytelling meets the realistic world we live in to create a theme park full of natural wonder. Unlike a zoo, this space feels like the animals are experiencing us just as much as we get to experience them in a beautiful and magical co-existence. Part of the enchantment comes from the connection we are able to make with these animals long before visiting. Each one has a name, a family, and a back story that is shared with Disney fans, detailing their journey to become part of Disney’s Animal Kingdom family. I love sharing news of our Disney animal friends. From new births to well-deserved retirement, it’s wonderful to be included in their story.
The story is only just beginning for a few new otter pups that have just been welcomed in Walt Disney World. Read the story below from Dr Mark and see the beautiful images of these little cuties as they grow before eventually joining the crew at Discovery Island.
Mae, an Asian small-clawed otter mom, recently welcomed a litter of pups at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. As the smallest otter species, these pups are already showing their unique charm. As you can see from these photos, mom is taking care of the otter pups backstage when they are not napping. The dad, Kevin, is also actively involved in the process of taking care of these new additions. Over the next few months, they will reach key milestones, like opening their eyes, trying solid foods, and learning to swim. The animal care team is closely watching their progress as they grow. Look for these pint-sized pups on Discovery Island soon!
