The New Stories of Animal Kingdom: 8 Countdown Disney Movies

Planning a visit to Disney’s Animal Kingdom is as exciting as the adventures waiting inside, and we love building excitement with themed movie nights before the big trip. Animal Kingdom is all about nature, discovery, and the power of storytelling, and watching a few films that align with the park’s heart is a wonderful way to set the scene. These picks will add a deeper connection to the park’s wildlife, cultures, and adventures when you finally step inside.

Avatar

Undoubtedly, one of the most impressive drawcards of this Disney Park is Pandora: World of Avatar. Though the enchanting beauty of this feature speaks for itself, a viewing of the feature film will help everyone understand the concept of the two attractions, as well as the gravity of this environmental masterpiece, especially after dark, when the scene comes alive.

The Lion King

A Disney classic, The Lion King is a childhood favorite for many of us, known for its inspirational music and timeless message. In Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a showing of this beloved movie can pay off as you enjoy a Broadway-calibre performance of Festival of the Lion King. Knowing your characters and lyrics is a great start to this experience. Don’t miss your Timon and Rafiki Meet & Greet at the Conservation Station when you are done!

Finding Nemo

Another showtime experience you won’t want to miss. Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond is a brilliant show with professional puppeteers that will leave you in awe. While knowing the storyline isn’t necessary to enjoy this colorful display of skill and creativity, it certainly is helpful, and adds to your immersion in the performance!

Zootopia

This one is a must for anyone visiting after November 7th, when Zootopia: Better Zoogether officially opens in Disney’s Animal Kingdom park. The new addition to the Tree of Life Theater features Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and all their friends from Disney Animation’s Zootopia and will take guests on an adventure through the different biomes seen in the film.

Up

Calling all Winderness Explorers! The time to put your skills to the test is now! This self-guided activity allows guests to collect 25 badges throughout the park after getting the Wilderness Explorer handbook from headquarters. Don’t miss a showing of this heartfelt adventure tale before you arrive.

Moana

Even though you won’t find any Moana-themed attractions in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, this park is the official location where you can meet and greet your favorite Polynesian princess! Moana character experiences are a regular in the park, so dedicate one night to a showing of Moana and be reminded of why this new-age princess captured our hearts.

Coming Soon: Encanto & Indiana Jones

A long-awaited reimagining of DinoLand USA will welcome a new area in the park, Tropical Americas, where tales from Encanto and Indiana Jones will see new attractions and spaces for guests to enjoy. Read more about the project here.
