The recently opened Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has already made a splash with its elevated accommodations, lush terrace gardens, and island-inspired atmosphere.
But there’s one surprise star that’s quickly gaining buzz among Disney foodies: the Wayfinder Burger, found at the quick-service spot inside the tower. Honestly, this is a serious contender for the best burger on Walt Disney World property.

Wayfinder Burger, Wailulu Bar & Grill | $23
Let’s start with what sets it apart. The Wayfinder Burger features two perfectly cooked, juicy smashed patties topped with American cheese, onion jam, and Volcano Sauce on a sweet bun, served with your choice of macaroni salad or sweet potato fries.

And then there are the sweet potato fries. Don’t overlook them. Crisped to perfection and lightly salted, they’re the ideal pairing; more flavorful and complementary than standard potato fries, offering just the right touch of sweetness and crunch to balance the burger’s richness.
What elevates the entire flavor profile is the volcano sauce, which is a tangy, umami-rich creation that packs a bit of heat that ties everything together. It pairs nicely with the onion jam and the soft, sweet bun. The beef is fresh, and the smashed edges had that lovely crisp.

It’s hard not to compare it to the much-loved Steakhouse 71 Stack Burger over at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which is known for its gourmet blend of beef, signature sauce, topped with melted American cheese and crispy pork belly, paired with waffle fries. It’s something I’ve ordered and enjoyed time and time again. Ol’ reliable whenever I stop into the Contemporary.

But to me, the Wayfinder is a cut above the rest. One bite and I knew Steakhouse 71 had some friendly competition.

You’ll find the Wayfinder Burger at Wailulu Bar & Grill, which is a gem in and of itself. Offering indoor and outdoor seating, a full-service bar, and walk-up availability (time it right for premium fireworks views across the lagoon), this is a great stop to take a break from the parks; whether you’re a resort guest or not!

So, is it the best burger on WDW property? Well, that’s for you to decide. If you’re basing it on my cheesy, comfort food-loving heart, then… YES.
