With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, the DIS Unlimited team headed to Raglan Road at Disney Springs for a Disney dining review. Be sure to check out the whole review here!
Raglan Road offers both patio and large inside seating complimented by dark wood tones, Irish music, and live entertainment.
The meal begins with complimentary Irish soda bread served with a Guinness reduction for dipping.
Raglan Road offers a soup of the day for $10.50. On our visit, the offering was a pureed potato, onion, and parmesan soup which Teresa enjoyed and let us sample. It was incredible and we all agreed we would come back for the soup alone! Other offerings include tomato and gin and shredded chicken and corn soup – be sure to ask your server for the soup of the day.
The team decided to share a new appetizer called the Board of Beauty for $45. This large sampling includes – an Irish egg, bang bang’s chicken, cider house belly, and smoked beef and crispy onion sliders. Ryno, Teresa, and I especially loved the pork belly and Irish egg. Craig suggested the tip of ordering the Irish egg and cider house belly ala carte for a lower price. Ultimately, we felt the price was high but it was a solid shareable appetizer.
Raglan Road offers a full bar and a very extensive list of beer and signature cocktails. Ryno chose Arthur’s Old Fashioned made with Tullamore Dew 12 Irish Whiskey, Guinness simple syrup, orange bitters, and Guinness cured bacon for $17. Ryno would recommend this drink and loved the addition of Guiness both in the bacon and flavor of the drink.
Teresa enjoyed the Strawberry Fields Mimosa for $17. Made with Dingle Irish Vodka, Luxardo Apertivo, lemon sour, house-made strawberry puree, and prosecco, this mimosa tasted light and fresh.
I chose the Wild Rosy made with Glenalough Wild Rose Rose Gin, Rockeys Botanical Liquer, homemade rosemary syrup, lemon Pellegrino, and Q-Mixer Tonic Water for $16. This is now one of my favorite cocktails at Disney and the botanical gin reminded me of the La Lavanda at the Dahlia Lounge.
Craig had the Kilkenny nitro-cream ale from Dublin for $10.25. This is one of the few locations in the US you can find this Irish beer. It reminded Craig of a Guinness which he ultimately prefers more. However, it was still a great beer!
Moving right on to entrees, Ryno selected Me Ma’s Best Chicken for $28.50. The roasted Springer Mountain Farms chicken breast was served with Raglan’s signature potato cake, confit butternut squash, grilled tender stem broccoli, sautéed spinach, and roast chicken gravy. Despite expecting one of the less exciting entrees, Ryno thought the chicken was delicious and flavorful. The potato cake was amazing and while the texture of the butternut squash was firm, it also had great flavor.
Teresa enjoyed the Gnocchi Sea Gnocchi Do made with handmade gnocchi, seared Foley’s Georges Bank scallops, crispy pork belly, tomatoes and kale in a white butter sauce for $33. Teresa felt like it was worth the price and she had the winning dish… I agree! It was very rich and well-complimented by the pork belly and kale. This is a dish she will be thinking about for a while!
I selected the Worth the Wait Beef Sandwich for $27. The menu describes at as 12 hour braised beef, garlic aioli, sautéed mushrooms, crispy onions, and smoked cheddar on ciabatta. The braised beef tasted like a standard pot roast but the addition of the aioli and smoked cheddar gave it a nice twist. However, I didn’t feel like it was worth the price and wasn’t anything too special.
Last but not least, Craig enjoyed the Bangers + Mash = Yum for $27. Made with Cheshire Heritage pork Irish banger, champ mashed potato, traditional red wine jus, and crispy fried onions, Craig thought the sausage had a good snap and the mashed potatoes were basic. Overall it was a good version of bangers and mash but the price was way too high.
For dessert, we decided to split Ger’s Bread and Butter Pudding for $12. The description reads “Like no other you have ever tried. Believe us.” The bread pudding is a long passed down family recipe and is a large serving, easily shared amongst the four of us. Ryno loved the bread pudding most of all but the rest of us thought it was just okay. Despite adding plenty of butterscotch sauce, it lacked the sweetness and density we’re used to with many bread puddings.
Time for ratings! Ryno gave Raglan Road’s ambiance a 7, presentation/ preparation an 8, taste an 8, service a 10, and cost a 6; for a total of 3.9 out of 5. Teresa gave the ambiance a 7, presentation/ preparation 9, taste 9, service 10, and cost 7; for a total of 4.2. Hannah gave the ambiance an 8, presentation/ preparation a 7, taste a 6, service 10, and cost a 6; for a total of 3.7. Craig gave the ambiance a 6, presentation/ preparation 8, taste 7, service 10, and cost a 4; for a total of 3.5.
Is Raglan Road a must-do on your Disney vacation? Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
