On the Outside Looking In: Visiting Disney World Resort Hotels

While you are on your vacation at Walt Disney World have you ever wanted to tour another resort, pick up some food, or view a special seasonal display? You drive up in your car and are refused entry because the resort is crowded, and you aren’t staying there.

What do you do?  If you would like to dine at one of the resorts, be sure to make a dining reservation ahead of time. Be prepared to show the guard at the resort your confirmation number and photo ID. Just having a quick-service meal ordered will typically not get you through the gate at the resort.

We recently decided to drive to the Yacht & Beach Club Resorts to see the Easter displays. We wanted to see if we just asked, if we would be let in. We were denied entry, and the guard suggested we drive to Hollywood Studios, take the Skyliner, and then walk to the resorts. If you were in EPCOT, you could always take one of the Friendship boats to the resort.

If you plan to visit the Grand Floridian, be prepared to park across the street and receive a 3-hour parking pass. When we went, they had a golf cart cruising the lot that will take you over to the resort from the parking lot. You could always take a boat from the Magic Kingdom to visit or dine at this resort. You could also take the monorail from the park or the Ticket and Transportation Center to the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, or Polynesian.

If you have a longing for beignets at Port Orleans French Quarter, you can always take the boat from Disney Springs.

You can also use Minnie Vans. This is a great way to get around the property, although it’s a bit pricey.

‘Til next time, see you in the parks!
