Meaning Behind New Disney Springs Art Walk Mural “Memento”

Disney Springs is well known as the dining and entertainment capital of Walt Disney World, where guests don’t need a theme park ticket to enjoy the lively atmosphere. With endless shopping opportunities, countless delightful restaurants, and world-class entertainment options, this area of the Orlando-based Disney resort has so much to offer. Even so, one of my favorite places to spend time is in the Disney Springs Art Walk, a free art exhibition where local artists are invited to come and create celebratory murals that express their diversity, community, and heritage.

The space is frequently updated, with new artists showcasing their talent every month. One of the most recent features was created in honor of last month’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, when muralist Brett Tachi shared a new piece entitled ‘Memento.’ Learn more about the artwork and the sentiment behind it below.

Earlier this month we welcomed muralist Brett Tachi to the #DSArtWalk as part of our Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebration! This stunning piece is titled ‘Memento,’ and Brett dedicated it to her Japanese elders and ancestors and their remarkable story of resilience. She shared: ‘I also hope it serves as a reminder to find big and small ways to connect with your culture, no matter where you are or where you’re from.’ Brett’s mural joins the vibrant outdoor gallery of color, emotion, and culture located in Town Center.
