Walt Disney World has begun piloting the return of their Resort Airline Check-In; a complimentary service that was discontinued during the COVID era along with a number of other popular guest offerings. This service allowed guests to checking their bags at their Disney resort, and their bags would magically appear when they arrived at their destination airport back home.
According to BlogMickey, beginning today, a very limited pilot of this service is exclusively taking place at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, continuing with additional roll outs at Value Resorts next month. The service is extremely limited during this pilot, with only Southwest Airlines flights included at this time. However, if there is more interest in the service in the future, it would be expanded to other airlines.
While this service will only be offered at Value Resorts for the foreseeable future, don’t let that deter you from a Moderate or Deluxe split-stay! As long as you conclude your stay at a Value Resort, you can take advantage of the luggage service on your departure day.
The service is only being communicated to guests via word of mouth to keep logistics manageable during the limited return. Qualifying guests must be staying at a qualifying resort, and be checked-in for their flight with Southwest Airlines. From there, guests can head to the Luggage Assistance desk in front of the resort’s lobby where Cast Members will assist.
While this is a win for pre COVID-era guest service perks, my mind only goes to one place: Could this also signify the eventual return of Disney’s Magical Express?
