In only its second year, Disney Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios has added an all-new show. Glisten!, a first-of-its-kind ice skating show, features champion ice skaters and choreography set to Disney classics and all-new original songs. The show takes place five times during the event in front of the Chinese Theater (home of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway).
Glisten! Show Times – 8:15 pm, 9:15 pm, 10:30 pm, 11:15 pm, and 12:15 am.
Disney songs include Be Our Guest and When You Wish Upon A Star, plus all-new songs exclusive for Jollywood. There is even a section of the performance with mesmerizing neon props and the ice skaters jumping through a light-up jump rope.
You might be asking yourself, how there is an outdoor ice rink in Orlando, Florida? Not to ruin the magic too much, but it’s actually a plastic rink, making the skating that much harder and more impressive. There is no seating for Glisten! but you can sit on the ground in front of the stage. If you would prefer to stand, you must stand further back from the taped-off seating area.
The DIS Unlimited team’s opinion was pretty mixed on Glisten! but the consensus was it’s an enjoyable show and a great value-add to Jollywood. In my opinion, there were definitely times when the music felt cheesy and I would have liked big band-style of jazz Christmas music to match the theme of Jollywood. Also, for a Disney production, more costume changes or props could have added to the overall quality. Was it still fun? Definitely. Should you watch it during your time at Jollywood? Absolutely.
