Let’s Do a Scavenger Hunt at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

When you stay at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you never know what activities you might come across as you stroll around, taking in all the magic you can. On my most recent visit, I arrived in the early evening and when I got off the elevator on the floor where my room was located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, I noticed a gold basket sitting on the table. Upon closer inspection, the paper inside had a scavenger hunt with ten clues listed to find certain spots around the resort.

The instructions say to “follow the clues to find 10 different spots around the Main Tower at the Contemporary Resort. Once you find the spot, take a selfie at that location.” Here’s the thing – I’m not much for taking selfies, but I thought a scavenger hunt sounded like fun, so I went around and found all of the spots I was looking for and took a photo of each one. I had a great time doing so and even learned a couple of new things along the way! I should point out that if you don’t want to see the spots I found, don’t scroll down any further!

1. First up, let’s try and find the one that started it all, Mickey Mouse! Take a photo in front of where you can eat with Mickey Mouse!

2. Not too far away is a VERY large mural inspired by the Grand Canyon. Can you spot it?

Every time I see this mural, I notice different things about it that I hadn’t noticed before. Not all of the goats have five legs; some of them only have four!

3. The mural in clue 2 was designed by Mary Blair. Can you find the Imagineer’s photo on the first floor?

4. The Contemporary has many lounges to relax in. Can you take a photo out front of the only one inside that overlooks the Contemporary Feature Pool?

The Outer Rim is a super busy lounge. Every time I walked into it, all the tables were full. I should point out that a huge section in Chef Mickey’s that used to be full of seating and used as a waiting area now has tables and chairs and is part of the actual restaurant. The majority of the lounge was full of guests waiting for their dining reservation check-in time.

5. There are a couple of pictures of Walt Disney around the Contemporary Resort. Can you take a picture of just one of them?

6. Can you take a picture in front of the check-in podium for this restaurant, which is one of the few places on property from which you can see all four theme parks?

I had some friends help me with this one! Catch our review from dinner at California Grill later this week!

7. While this isn’t the biggest “Hidden Mickey” at Walt Disney World, it is pretty tall. Can you take a picture with this Mickey that makes up the entrance to one of our gift shops?

8. Down in the lobby, find the circular mural near the check-in desk. On it, you will find lots of different animals, including a bear. Find the bear in the mural and take a selfie with it.

9. Our “Highway in the Sky” travels right through the center of the resort as it transports guests around Walt Disney World. Can you manage to snap a picture with it as it’s traveling through the resort?

10. There are lots of pictures of Mickey around the Contemporary, but can you find the one with four Mickeys in it that lights up?

I hope you enjoyed seeing all of these fun finds with me from wherever you are! Have you ever completed this scavenger hunt or any others around the Walt Disney World Resort? Share your experiences in the comments below!
