Fire at “it’s a small world” Loading Station in Magic Kingdom

Those visiting Magic Kingdom on July 1 witnessed an unusual scene inside “it’s a small world” after a fire extinguisher was discharged in the attraction’s loading area, prompting a temporary evacuation and shutdown.

A video shared to TikTok from @coachbragg shows Cast Members responding to the incident while a large cloud of smoke and/or fire extinguisher residue fills the station. No guests can be seen inside the loading area during the clip, though several are shown exiting the attraction.

In the video, one guest can be heard saying, “It looks like someone dropped something,” though it’s unclear whether that comment was connected to what caused the incident. You can watch the video below:

A separate image posted in the video’s comments appears to show guests waiting inside their boats as the station filled with smoke or extinguisher discharge before the attraction was fully evacuated (the queue had already been evacuated).

The exact cause of the incident has not been confirmed by Disney.

According to attraction operating times, “it’s a small world” went down at approximately 10:30 AM before reopening around midday, resulting in a closure of roughly 90 minutes. The relatively short downtime suggests the situation was quickly brought under control, allowing Cast Members time to clean the area and safely reopen the attraction.

While the sight of smoke or extinguisher residue inside an iconic Fantasyland attraction understandably caught attention, there have been no reports of injuries or a more serious emergency stemming from the incident. The attraction has since resumed normal operation.
