Disney’s BoardWalk will be getting a bit of makeover in the years to come, and it’s just been announced that the first changes to be made will see the transformation of the BoardWalk Bakery into a sandwich shop, a new coffee bar, and the addition of a new table service location.
The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers will be both a restaurant and bakery, and will feature “sweet treats and dreamy desserts.” The dining location is set to open next year and will offer an afternoon tea service along with separate sweet and savory dessert menus.
The Boardwalk Bakery will shift to focusing on sandwiches, and the announcement mentions that they’ll be joining existing locations like BoardWalk Ice Cream.
The addition that has me most excited is that Disney’s BoardWalk Inn will be receiving its very own in-lobby coffee shop. If this new shop ends up being anything like Le Petit Cafe at Disney’s Riviera Resort, it’ll be a very good thing. The coffee bar will offer “artisanal beverages” and bites, and will feature both indoor and outdoor seating.
The resort’s lobby, lounge, and guest rooms will also receive “light and airy touches” as a part of the transformation.
We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date as further information is released.
