Rivers of America & More Already Removed from Magic Kingdom Map

Yesterday was the final day for some classic Magic Kingdom staples, including Rivers of America, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island. And just like that, Disney already updated Magic Kingdom’s map reflecting the big changes.

These closures pave the way (quite literally) for the new Cars-themed area coming to Frontierland, Piston Peak, as well as the Disney Villains land “beyond Big Thunder Mountain”.

Notable Map Changes at Magic Kingdom

The most significant update to the Magic Kingdom map is the complete removal of Tom Sawyer Island. Once detailed with bridges, walking trails, and Fort Langhorn, the area now appears as a featureless green space. Also gone from the map is the Liberty Square Riverboat, along with its familiar route around the Rivers of America. Here’s a before and after for comparison:

Railroad Update

Additionally, the map now reflects a temporary change to the Walt Disney World Railroad. Instead of the full loop around the park, only a shortened route is shown, as the railroad is now operating in “shuttle mode” exclusively between Main Street, U.S.A. Station and Fantasyland Station. As shown on the map, the railroad does not circle the entire park:

Constructionland

With the closures of Rivers of America, Tom Sawyer Island, and the Liberty Belle Riverboat, we can expect to see major transformation taking place across Frontierland and Liberty Square. These updates to the Magic Kingdom map just one day after the permanent closures signal the early steps toward the Villains and Cars-themed areas. Stay tuned, because Magic Kingdom is about to enter a bold new chapter.
