It’s that time. You are on your final countdown to your Walt Disney World vacation. I would like to share some planning tips before you arrive so you have a great vacation.

Be aware that if you are coming in the Summer, it usually rains every day. It can be raining on one side of the park but not the other. Be sure to pack rain ponchos for everyone. The rain usually doesn’t last long and the sun will come out. It is a great time to ride the attractions because lots of folks head for the exit when it starts to rain.

Be sure to bring sunscreen. Nothing ruins a vacation quicker than a bad sunburn. It doesn’t take long in the Florida sun to get burned.

Think about your clothing. Be sure to bring a hat. It is also a great idea to pack a sweatshirt for everyone. The indoor spaces at WDW can be cool, especially after being in the hot sun. Consider bringing more than 1 bathing suit, so you have a dry one if you want to swim while one is still wet. If you come in the Fall or Winter, be sure to dress in layers. It can be cool in the morning and by the afternoon, you are sweating.

Don’t bring new shoes that you haven’t broken in yet. Nothing is more miserable than a pair of shoes that aren’t comfortable while you are walking in the parks. You might want to walk around your home neighborhood to break them in. You will be doing lots of walking and comfort is key. You should also consider bringing more than one pair. Florida is notorious for the afternoon rains during the summer.

Be sure to pack a camera and extra memory cards, and your charger. If you are using your iPhone or Android phone, be sure to have plenty of room to store those photos. Make sure you back them up to your computer when you get home. The photos should be backed up in 2 places so you don’t lose those priceless family memories. I love looking back at the pictures when we first started coming to WDW. My kids are older now and it brings tears to my eyes when I recall my kids on Main Street and my grandchildren experiencing the parks now.
