UPDATE: After the Mayor’s announcement this morning, the Walt Disney World website was updated slightly as noted in the tweet below.
Disney has made a slight change to its face mask policy, changing the second item in the checklist to now say masks required for “all indoor theaters.” The previous version just said “all theaters.”

On Friday morning, Orange County Florida Mayor Jerry Demings announced that the local state of emergency is over in Orange County. He will lift mask mandates and social distancing rules beginning Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Earlier this week, the mayor informed residents that the county had managed to stay at a COVID positivity rate of below 5% for 11 days, but moving the county down to phase 3 would require being at that level for 14 days which happened today.
In the Mayor’s phased plan to start scaling back on COVID health and safety guidelines, he stated that once 70% of people ages 16 and over received their first dose of the COVID vaccine and/or Orange County‘s 14-day rolling positivity rate was at 5% or below he would begin lifting restrictions.
Walt Disney World dropped their outdoor face mask requirement two weeks ago after Orange County reached 50% vaccinated. Face masks are still required to be worn when indoors or upon entering any of the attractions.
Universal Orlando Resort dropped its face mask policy for both indoors and outdoors last week.
As of this post, it remains to be seen what Disney will do, but we could see face mask requirements dropped entirely at Disney World soon.
