UPDATE 7/28/21: Upon declaring a state of emergency in Orange County, FL, due to the recent increase in COVID-19 cases, Mayor Jerry Demings is recommending that everyone, vaccinated or not, resume wearing face coverings whenever they are indoors.
Demings was asked what the recommendation is for local theme parks and he said, “I expect all of our theme parks to follow the CDC recommended guidelines.”
UPDATE 7/27/21: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to make a recommendation stating that fully vaccinated people should resume wearing face masks in certain indoor situations.
In a press conference Monday morning, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced that the county is back in “crisis mode” as the COVID-19 positivity rate moves to nearly 14% with about 1,000 new positive cases per day.
The mayor also noted that 95% of the new positive cases are those who are unvaccinated and is encouraging residents to get their vaccines.
Dr. Raul Pino of the Orange County Florida Department of Health stated that the amount of new daily COVID-19 cases are similar to what was seen in January of this year prior to the vaccine(s) being publicly available to all who wished to receive it.
As of the time of this post, there have been no travel updates issued for those coming to Central Florida from out of town.
