Marvel Studios has announced a change in the name of the newest Avengers film, due out in 2018.
This new film is part one of a set of films by Joe and Anthony Russo that will introduce “intergalactic arch-villain Thanos” to the audience.
It was originally going to be titled Avengers: Infinity War Part 1. The Part 1 has been dropped to leave the title as Avengers: Infinity War. It is thought that the next film will also get a new subtitle and is currently just being touted as Untitled Avengers.
The first two films of the franchise, The Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron are the top two films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s likely that this new addition will rise to the top as well, as it’s been proven that the superhero team-up movies are a popular format.
Avengers: Infinity War will be out May 4, 2018 and Untitled Avengers will be out May 3, 2019.
