We’ve Waited YEARS for The Cake Bake Shop, but Can We Afford It?

You may have noticed that there have been some recent updates to The Cake Bake Shop coming to Disney’s BoardWalk area over the last couple of days. First, the walls came down, but most importantly, a menu board was placed outside, revealing not only the delicious-sounding food and desserts coming to the bakery and restaurant but also the pricing, some of which is quite shocking if you haven’t yet seen it. You have been warned.

The new table-service dining location, The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant, will serve a specially curated menu for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, desserts, and cocktails. Right next door is The Cake Bake Shop Bakery, where handmade cakes, cookies, French macarons, brownies, dessert bars, pies, cheesecakes, and more will be offered.

Here is just a sampling of the restaurant pricing visitors can look forward to.

  • Fountain Soda (Coca-Cola products) $8
  • Most entrees on the Children’s menu are $18 ($18 for PB&J?!!??)
  • Key Lime Pie slice $18
  • Breakfast Sandwich $23
  • Cake slices from $22

An opening date hasn’t even been announced yet, but the majority of Disney fans in our discussion forums have already stated the obvious—the pricing is borderline ridiculous. Look, I’m sure that the premium location is costing them plenty, no doubt. Not to mention how much money has already gone into the building itself with taxes and all.

The restaurant and bakery are undoubtedly whimsical and gorgeous. If you’ve looked at their official website, the baked goods are absolutely beautiful. According to our sources, their Indiana location is crazy popular and busy. But will it be the same at its Walt Disney World location? I have a hunch that it will. I’d love to hear your thoughts on it, so please share them!
