Magic Kingdom’s Emporium Remains Under Construction

Magic Kingdom’s largest gift shop and the Main Street, U.S.A. icon, The Emporium, has been undergoing a refurbishment since mid-January this year. The remodel is happening inside the store and so far consists of replacing the flooring and rearranging merchandise. Unfortunately, some of the changes seem to take away from the character of the Emporium, and the construction walls make guest flow complicated.

The entrance into the Emporium under the “House of Magic” sign is currently closed. You can still enter through Casey’s Corner or the other Emporium entrances.

The entrance under the “Main Street Fashion Apparel” sign is walled off to the right, and you can see where the flooring has changed to a more generic wood floor-esque tile. This area of the Emporium has children’s apparel items and housewares towards the back.

Coming from Casey’s Corner into the Emporium, you can see that the tile flooring has changed and character plush have moved to this section where the walled-off portion of the store is. This is a pretty tight walkway, especially since a lot of people use the Emporium as their exit from Magic Kingdom.

Other tile changes include this housewares section that is much more open and does have some added personality.

We’re not quite sure what changes are in place for Magic Kingdom’s Emporium, but we are surprised to see a refurbishment that has gone into the spring break/ busy season at Walt Disney World. The new tile choices and layout do feel much starker than the previous design, but time will tell if this continues to evolve!
