When it comes to planning a Disney trip, there are a thousand things you feel like you should know already, and then there are the questions you keep to yourself because you don’t want to sound clueless. Here’s the thing: you’re not alone. Every day in the parks, I hear guests whisper the same so-called ‘stupid’ questions, but the truth is, they’re actually completely valid. If you’re worried about standing out, doing it wrong, or breaking some invisible Disney code, let’s clear it up. Today, we’re tackling three of the most common ones that people are too shy to ask but absolutely should.
Can Adults Order Kids’ Meals?
Yes, you can, and you should if that’s what works for you. Quick-service spots will happily serve you a kids’ meal, and no one will blink an eye. While most Disney restaurants don’t care if you’re over 12 and craving chicken nuggets, the catch comes at table-service locations, where kids’ entrées are designed (and priced) for children, so your server might raise an eyebrow if you’re trying to order them instead of the adult options. Still, in most cases, if you’re polite and clear about what you want, Disney cast members will accommodate you, sometimes offering a compromise with an adult portion/price of a kids’ meal. Outside of a buffet setting, most places are happy to help.
Do I Need to Wear Mickey Ears?

Nope. Mickey ears are fun, they’re iconic, and they make for great photos, but they’re not required gear for enjoying the parks, and a significant number of guests won’t be wearing any character headwear at all. Some people wear a different pair every day, while others never wear them at all, and both groups have the same amount of fun. If ears aren’t your style, skip them. There’s no invisible Disney fashion police keeping tabs. That said, if you want a little festive flair without the headband headache, try pins, t-shirts, or a subtle Disneybound outfit. The goal isn’t to fit in, it’s to feel comfortable and enjoy yourself without worrying about whether you look ‘Disney enough.’
What Happens If I Don’t Tip at Table Service Restaurants?
Let’s be clear: tipping is expected at Disney’s table-service restaurants just like anywhere else in the United States. Servers rely on those tips, and skipping out sends the wrong message, especially when you’re in the middle of the most hospitality-driven vacation on Earth. If you don’t tip, you won’t get banned from the park, but you’ll leave your server with a sour taste and possibly a lower level of enthusiasm for the next guest. If tipping culture isn’t something you’re used to (completely understandable in many parts of the world), budget for it ahead of time: 15–20% is the standard. Think of it as part of the meal price. If you really don’t want to deal with it, stick to quick-service restaurants where tipping isn’t expected.
Now and again, I’ll be circling back to more Dumb Disney Questions (that aren’t dumb at all!) that Disney first-timers are too shy to ask. If you’ve got an embarrassing question to ask, send me a message so we can add it to the next in the series; and don’t worry, we won’t out you in the process!
