There are plenty of massive projects underway at Walt Disney World right now, but Walt Disney Imagineering has also been busy working on something considerably smaller. Much, much smaller.
The charming Germany Train Garden at EPCOT is getting some attention, and Imagineers have shared a closer look at new details being added throughout its miniature world. This is one of those little World Showcase treasures that is incredibly easy to walk past on your way to your next attraction or festival booth. But stop for a few minutes and really look around, and there’s a surprising amount happening down there.

Located along the World Showcase promenade near the Germany pavilion, the garden features a G-scale railway winding through a miniature Bavarian village. The display debuted for the 1995 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival and proved popular enough to stick around. More than 30 years later, those little trains are still chugging along.
One of my favorite additions is a miniature Disney construction zone, complete with tiny excavators, construction workers and those all-too-familiar green construction walls. Look closely at those walls and you’ll even find miniature signs reading, “Please Pardon Our Pixie Dust. This Area Is Being Refurbished For Your Future Enjoyment.” Because apparently even the tiny people at EPCOT can’t escape construction walls!

Walt Disney Imagineering and the Walt Disney World Engineering Services Artist Prep team are currently adding new magic to the garden. And from the photos they’ve shared, they’re clearly having some fun with it.

There are plenty of other details worth hunting for. One section features a cottage inspired by Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, tucked alongside a stream and surrounded by trees. Elsewhere, you can spot a miniature Dreamfinder, and the village itself includes tiny buildings, pathways, residents and scenes that are easy to miss if you’re only watching the trains go by.

There’s even a miniature version of the Germany pavilion’s village square, complete with its fountain and architecture!

That’s really what makes the Germany Train Garden such a fun little corner of EPCOT. It doesn’t need a Lightning Lane, there isn’t a 60-minute wait, and nobody is rushing you through it. You can simply stop for a while and see what you can find.

The next time you’re walking through the Germany pavilion, give yourself a few extra minutes here. Don’t just watch the trains. Look between the buildings, behind the trees and along those tiny pathways. Imagineering has hidden quite a bit of personality inside this miniature EPCOT world, and I have a feeling there are still details waiting to be discovered.
