Five Games To Play in Your Longest Disney Queue This Summer

If there’s one thing that can test the limits of even the most magical Disney day, it’s standing in a never-ending line while the sun beats down and the crowds close in. Tensions rise, kids start fidgeting, and suddenly that Mickey-shaped pretzel doesn’t feel like enough to hold everyone over. And while it’s tempting to hand everyone a phone to scroll through, wasting your precious park battery (and precious time together) on Instagram isn’t exactly the best use of the moment. Instead, with a little creativity, those long, sweaty stretches of queue time can turn into some of the most fun moments of the day. Grab your family and friends, because I’ve got five easy games to play in line this summer that will swap stress for giggles, get everyone off their screens, and turn waiting into bonding time.

1. Disney 20 Questions

This classic guessing game gets a magical twist when you stick to Disney themes. One person thinks of a character, attraction, or even a snack, and the rest of the group has twenty yes-or-no questions to figure it out. It’s incredible how fast the time flies when everyone is arguing over whether a Dole Whip counts as a snack or an icon.

2. Queue Scavenger Hunt

Before you hop in line, set a few silly things to look out for: matching family shirts, a Hidden Mickey, someone in perfectly curated Disneybound, or a parade balloon floating above the crowd. Everyone keeps their eyes peeled, and the first person to spot each item gets a point. Bragging rights (and maybe one of those bribery gummy bears stashed in your Loungefly) are on the line.

3. Would You Rather: Disney Edition

“Would you rather ride ā€˜it’s a small world’ ten times in a row or eat nothing but turkey legs for an entire day?” These ridiculous questions always get everyone laughing and sometimes spark real debates about which form of torture would be worse, or which Disney delight is at the top of everyone’s list. Some of the deepest preferences can be revealed unexpectedly during this game, so be prepared!

4. Ride Photo Pose Planning

Half the fun of Disney rides is the on-ride photo, and waiting in line is the perfect time to plan it. Pick a theme: superheroes, villains, royal family, or even ‘look as bored as possible’ and coordinate your pose. Not only does it make the line more fun, but you’ll have the most memorable ride photo of the day. I’ve seen some incredible ride photos where everyone is playing along, and it is the funniest Disney trend ever! Only caution here is to try not to do anything that will spoil the shot of the others in the ride with you. Or, better yet, ask them if they want to get in on the fun as well!

5. Story Time Shuffle

Start with one sentence (‘Goofy overslept and missed his parade shift…’) and take turns adding to the story. By the time you reach the front of the line, you’ll have invented a ridiculous Disney fanfiction starring half the Fab Five and possibly a few of the Disney Ducks with dreams of stardom. (Side note: Does anyone else remember that Disneyland Paris commercial? Oh, my heart!) Kids love this game because it doesn’t matter how silly their suggestion is, it just takes the story in an even more interesting direction.

Save that Instagram screen time for showing off your next spooktacular snack at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, and spend your queue time bonding with the people you came with.
