Walt Disney World has announced that the Disney Skyliner will close for a scheduled refurbishment in early 2027. The popular gondola transportation system will be unavailable from January 24th through January 30, 2027, as maintenance crews perform their annual updates and inspections.
The Disney Skyliner has become a favorite mode of transportation for guests since its debut in 2019, offering a scenic and efficient way to travel between EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and several resort hotels, including Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and Disney’s Art of Animation Resort. Its brief closure is part of routine upkeep to ensure a safe and smooth experience for guests year-round.
During this week-long closure, Walt Disney World will provide complimentary bus service to all affected resorts and theme parks. Signs will be posted around stations, and cast members will be on hand to direct guests to temporary bus stops and help them navigate alternative routes.

While the refurbishment may add a few extra minutes to travel times, it is a necessary step in keeping the system in top condition. The Skyliner has become an essential part of many guests’ vacation plans, thanks to its continuous service and bird’s-eye views of Walt Disney World.
Guests with vacations planned during the closure dates are encouraged to factor in additional travel time when heading to the parks, especially during early morning hours or peak closing times. Disney also recommends checking My Disney Experience for updated transportation schedules and any service advisories during their stay.
With its quick turnaround, the Disney Skyliner will reopen on January 31, 2027, ready to once again whisk guests through the sky and provide one of the most unique transportation experiences at Walt Disney World.
As a reminder, the Disney Skyliner will also be closed for annual refurbishment from January 25-31, 2026.
