Tiki Finds: Disney’s Polynesian Merch You’ll Want to Bring Home

I recently stopped by one of my favorite resorts — Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Like any of Disney’s resort hotels, you can find exclusive merchandise to commemorate your visit.

Even if you’re not staying here, the Polynesian has a way of pulling you in. Maybe it’s the music drifting through the Great Ceremonial House, or the way the scent hits you the second you walk into the lobby. There’s a laid-back vibe that feels different from the rest of Walt Disney World, and there’s plenty to do while you’re there. You can grab a DOLE Whip from Pineapple Lanai, settle in for a meal at ‘Ohana. or. Captain Cook’s, or keep things a bit more low-key with sushi or coffee at Kona Cafe. Of course, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto is always a fun stop!

The Polynesian opened in 1971 alongside Magic Kingdom, making it one of the original Walt Disney World resorts. Its design pulled inspiration from the islands of the South Pacific, with longhouses named after real places and cultural influences woven throughout. The lobby itself has seen updates over the years, but it still keeps that open, breezy feel that makes it such an inviting place to slow down for a bit.

One detail that’s tough to miss is the presence of Maui. The central tiki figure in the lobby has become a symbol for the resort, and you’ll spot him featured across a lot of the merchandise.
