Tim Curry best known for his roles as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rock Horror Picture Show, Pennywise in the series IT, Wadsworth in Clue, and so many iother iconic shows and films, passed away on August 25th in his Los Angeles home. Curry was a legendary actor and singer, giving life to so many unforgettable characters.
Disney fans will always remember Tim Curry as Long John Silver in Muppet Treasure Island and “The Concierge” in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. While he was a much-deserved winner of a Daytime Emmy, Grammy, and nominee for multiple Tony and Olivier Awards, he will be missed for the characters he brought to life and his unforgettable voice. Very few actors have a range quite as impressive as Tim Curry.
Curry faced health struggles in recent years after surviving a stroke in 2012. His last film appearance was in the 2024 indie horror Stream and his last public appearance was at the 50th Anniversary of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in New York last November.
Disney Parks fans might remember Tim Curry as the voice of “S.I.R.” the Simulated Intelligence Robotics robot in the queue for the retired Magic Kingdom attraction, Alien Encounter. He also lent his incredible voice to many animated characters like the villain pipe organ, Forte, in Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, and series like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, and Phineas and Ferb.
Personally I’ll never be able to watch Muppet Treasure Island the same again and will think of Tim Curry every time it’s playing on the Funnel Vision during Disney Cruise Line’s “Pirate Night”. To quote Dr. Frank-N-Furter, “Don’t dream it, be it.”
