The Disney Sequels You Didn’t Know You Needed to See

There are very few sequels that live up to the originals. It is sometimes hard to recreate the complete magic of a Disney movie, but there are some good ones out there. Many people think automatically of the in-cinema flicks like Frozen 2, or the Toy Story series, but there are plenty sequels of your favorite Disney films of which many might be unaware. While I am not claiming that these are better than the original, take a watch and see what you think about the continued stories of these Disney classics.

The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea

Did you know that Ariel and Eric had a daughter and Ursula had a sister? This fun story is about Ariel and Eric's daughter Melody and how she wants nothing more than to visit the sea. While this is not the highest of critically acclaimed movies, it does include some great songs like "Down to the Sea" and "For a Moment."

The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride

While nothing can truly live up to the magic of the original Lion King, Simba's Pride is quite the enjoyable journey. This flick follows Simba and his daughter Kiara as Kiara finds love that goes against her father's wishes. This take on Romeo and Juliet provides us with amazing songs. "He Lives in You," "We Are One," "Upendi," and the ultimate banger, "One of Us" (I dare you not to sing along to that one). All are really great songs for a sequel.

The Return of Jafar (Aladdin 2)

This sequel came out 2 years after the original Aladdin, and was the first Disney direct-to-video movie to hit the shelves. It became one of the best-selling films on home video ever. This sequel takes place a year after the original and follows the story as Jafar's lamp is found and chaos follows.

Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas

In the original Beauty and the Beast, we see a clear passage of time from when Belle first comes to the castle to when the spell is lifted. So what happened in between all that time? The Enchanted Christmas tells the story of the castle's Christmas with Belle in charge. It introduces a new villain and gives Christmas lovers a new favorite to belt out in "As Long As There's Christmas."

Kronk's New Groove

I don't know about you, but I believe one of the best Disney characters of all time is Kronk. In this fun sequel to the Emperor's New Groove, Kronk gets the spotlight in a telling of how he got to where we found him in the original movie. I will always be down for a trip to see where the Junior Chipmunks convene!

What sequels are your favorite?
