Downtown Disney’s ESPN Zone Officially Closes

Since 2001, guests spending time at the Disneyland Resort‘s Downtown Disney district could entertain themselves as they dined with a massive sprawl of TV screens featuring live sporting events and a sizable arcade, but those days have ended. ESPN Zone permanently closed its doors on June 2nd, paving the way for construction of a new luxury hotel.

Other adjacent Downtown Disney businesses will follow suit, as Disney requested the future construction area be completely clear by June 30th. The western Starbucks location, Earl of SandwichRainforest Cafe, and Alamo Rent-A-Car will all close on June 17th. AMC 12 Theatres is also expected to close before the June 30th deadline.
