Ghost Town opened in 1941 as a way to entertain guests as they waited for a table at Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant.

As part of the 75th anniversary, GhostRider, the theme park’s classic wood rollercoaster is receiving a complete overhaul, including re-profiling, a complete wooden re-tracking, and state of the art Millennium Flyer trains designed to look like mining cars.

In addition to the construction on GhostRider, Knott’s has announced a new interactive experience called Ghost Town Alive! that will open next summer.  Guests will be able to “live the west” and interact with characters and environments throughout Ghost Town, including a town wide 75th anniversary celebration each evening.

Knott’s is also building a new Calico Stage in Ghost Town, with an all-new show expected for summer 2016.  The space where the current stage is located will become Calico Park, with lots of shade and a small stage of its own.

The construction is not limited to Ghost Town, as Knott’s has also announced a complete refurbishment of Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant to be completed spring 2016.  Some construction has already begun, but the restaurant will close on January 4, 2016 to finish the rest of the improvements, including all new furniture, flooring, lighting, and a new outdoor seating area.

During construction the Chicken to Go counter service location will remain open.
