Hey howdy hey, and welcome to another curated list of vintage Disney goods from yours truly! You’ve just crossed over into a collection from another era. This week, we’re checking into the Hollywood Tower Hotel for a deep dive into some chillingly charming vintage merchandise from The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Your room is ready now… but will you make it back with your luggage – and your wallet – intact?
This feels like the perfect opportunity to plug my favorite (and probably yours?) sign that once stood and MOVED at Walt Disney World. This promotional billboard lived on for decades, and survived many updates, including Disney’s Hollywood Studios name change from Disney-MGM Studios. I remember often peering out my family’s car on our way into the parks, getting a quick passing glimpse at the screaming passengers inside the shaking elevator and thinking “one day I’ll be brave enough to ride that”.

In July 2022, the sign was suddenly dismantled and completely removed with no replacement. To the surprise of no one, Chapek was CEO of the Disney company then… Was it his idea to remove this beloved piece of roadside history?
Anyways… let’s get back on a happier note and dive into this week’s Tower of Terror treasures!
First up is this detailed resign figurine from 2002. Not only is it a beautiful little interpretation of the Hollywood Tower Hotel, but it’s hinged, is detailed with the 5th dimension on the inside AND comes with Mickey and Goofy falling in an elevator.

If you’ve been around a good part of my Treasure Thursday features, you know I love collecting and wearing vintage theme park buttons. This is one of my favorites from my own collection, I love the 90s attraction design and glitter!

Available HERE | $4.75
Another popular Tower of Terror design of the 1990s featured Mickey suffering the Halloween night lightning strike solo, with him free-falling inside a bluish purple Hollywood Tower Hotel. This magnet was one of a few items once available inside the exit gift shop:

It seems like dressing Goofy in attraction-specific costumes was a thing, given the Test Track version and this bellhop one! Goofy + the Tower of Terror… what could possibly go wrong? He’s just doing his best.

Available HERE | $14.36 (currently 20% off)
This week’s featured rarer relic is this graphic t-shirt not only including ‘Disney-MGM Studios’, but Rod Serling himself. Imagine if you will…

Available HERE | $59.99
A warm welcome back to those who made it… that’s all for this week! Won’t you drop in again sometime? Happy hunting!
