Curiouser and curiouser. While doing my regular round-up of Disney Merchandise surveillance, I came across something that suddenly appeared on Disney’s “Coming Soon” section of the Disney Store website. Out of nowhere, a new tile has appeared at the front of the queue, next in line for release on November 12th, 2024, with the only description provided below ‘Something Special is Coming.’ Of course, my ADHD brain started to race. What could this possibly mean?
With no clues given by the non-descript yet magical animated image tile (included below), it really could be just about anything. However, there is one thing that my little heart is living in hopes it could be, or at least be related to: the Disneyland 70th Anniversary celebration. I know it’s a long shot, and it’s highly unlikely that we will see the bulk of any Disneyland Resort 70th merch this side of the new year, which I am resigned to. But with this level of mystery, I can’t help but think, perhaps, there might be a little enchanted glimpse at something 70th-related. I overthink these things, I know, but I can’t help but notice all the characters in this tile’s background. While only slightly contrasted silhouettes, they seem to represent every aspect of Disney storytelling, from traditional Disney to Pixar and Marvel, much like how the Disneyland Resort has evolved over the years.
I could be clutching at straws here, hopeful that news of the celebration I am hanging out for will come soon, but in any case, something special seems to be on the way from next Tuesday, and you know where you will read about it first.
