The Grand Floridian Gingerbread House is celebrating its 25th anniversary at Walt Disney World! Situated in the lobby of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, this beloved holiday tradition features a stunning, life-sized gingerbread house created by the resort’s talented bakery team. The house is not only a festive display, but also serves as a charming market offering seasonal baked goods.
This year’s Grand Floridian Gingerbread House display features:
- White chocolate candy canes, edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, and an 88-pound white chocolate Santa.
- Over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread are baked with 1050 pounds of honey, 800 pounds of flour, and 600 pounds of confectioners’ sugar.
- The decorations, including various character-themed Christmas trees scattered around, are made up of 700 pounds of chocolate. They’ve even included Figment in his holiday sweater!
- The team spent over 500 hours baking the gingerbread and 480 hours bringing the display to life.
- There are 25 glittery “hidden” Mickeys on the display in honor of the 25th anniversary. (My favorite is the one perfectly situated within a heart cut-out!)
From the moment you step into the lobby, the smell of fresh gingerbread fills the air. It’s tough to resist checking out the baked goods Disney is offering from inside the Gingerbread House itself!
Before heading out for the evening, we opted to try the Imported Cookie Bag for $16.79, which are imported straight from Germany. These variously frosted gingerbread cookies were soft and fresh, and tasted like the best sort of gingerbread – dense, chewy, and spicy-sweet.
I’m looking forward to the other gingerbread displays opening at Walt Disney World deluxe resorts (and EPCOT!) in the coming days. Is taking in Disney’s gingerbread displays part of your holiday tradition?
Catch you later!
