The Disneyland Resort always does a great job of decorating, whatever the season. When it comes to Cars Land, however, the decorations are even more fun and imaginative. I’ve said before that Cars Land is one of the best things about Halloween Time in Disney California Adventure, but how does Christmas compare?
When you look closer at Halloween and Christmas in Cars Land, there are definitely similarities.

Let’s start by looking at the attractions. Both Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters get overlays for both seasons, with themed decorations and a batch of new songs themed to the season. Even the announcements between rides are updated.
Mater’s Graveyard JamBOOree and Luigi’s Honkin’ Haul-O-Ween at Halloween are a lot of fun. Mater’s Jingle Jamboree and Luigi’s Joy to the Whirl are equally joyous, and with several songs each, there’s plenty of new fun to be had.

When it comes to decorations, the land is themed from head to toe the way the only the residents of Radiator Springs could. There are tools, auto parts, traffic cones and more strewn across the land in the shape of spiderwebs…or wreaths…depending on the season. Discovering how they make the most of familiar items is always interesting.

If you want a picture to remember your trip, the billboard outside Radiator Springs is rethemed to each season and is the perfect photo op, though the line can sometimes be daunting.
During Halloween, both Lightning McQueen and Mater greet guests near the Cozy Cone Motel in their Halloween costumes near the, but at Christmas time, Santa Mater takes center stage.

The last thing I’m going to mention is the Dia de los Muertos memorial to Doc Hudson inside Ramone’s House of Body Art. The fact that they use what is normally retail space to create this amazes me. Unfortunately, there’s nothing like this at Christmas.

While I do have my favorite, you really can’t go wrong with either season. Cars Land (and the rest of the resort) are at their best during the holidays.

The Holidays at the Disneyland Resort begin November 14th.
