Tonight at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney fan John Stamos, along with Imagineer Brent Strong and Marvel Chief Creative Officer Kevin Feige, shared an update to the Avengers Campus expansion coming to Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort and confirmed that both attractions will open in 2028.
First announced at the 2022 D23 Expo, the expansion that will double the size of Avengers Campus came into focus at the 2024 event with details about two new attractions coming to the land. The previous announced attraction centering on King Thanos was given the name Avengers Infinity Defense and a fourth attraction for the land, Stark Flight Lab, was announced.
Tonight we learned that the guests at Avengers Infinity Defense will be welcomed by Ms. Marvel, played by Iman Velli. Several of your favorite heroes will reprise their roles during the attraction, including Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Chris Hemsworth as Thor, and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
Guests will be surrounded by huge physical sets the blend with media screens the put you in the middle of the battle with King Thanos, traveling along the way to Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City.
Stark Flight Lab will feature appearances by Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, and Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.
Guests will sit in two-person gyro-kinetic pods that roll along a track before stopping in front of a giant robot arm, simulating what its like to train like an Avenger.
