Tonight at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, host Neil Patrick Harris, along with Imagineers Ali Rubenstein and Emily O’Brien, shared more information about the Disney-Pixar Coco attraction coming to Disney California Adventure at the Disneyland Resort.
The new boat ride in which guests will join Miguel on a trip to the Land of the Dead was first announced at the 2024 D23 Expo and construction began early this year in a backstage area between Pixar Pier and Paradise Gardens.
Tonight we learned that the attraction will take place about a year after the original film, welcoming guests to a “casa museo” dedicated to Miguel’s great-great-grandfather, Hector Rivera.
The entrance to the attraction will be in Pixar Pier next to Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind. Once onboard, guests will travel through Miguel’s memories of the Land of the Dead. Imagineers are bringing the cast of characters to life using the latest Audio-Animatronic technology.
The Imagineers also shared that, like many of our favorite classic Disneyland boat attractions, the upcoming Coco attraction will not have a height requirement.
