I’m Back! What’s New (To Me) at the Disneyland Resort?

I’m Back! What’s New (To Me) at the Disneyland Resort? Mickeys Toontown Mickey's Toontown

Your friendly neighborhood Disneyland correspondent is back and is ready to once again bring you reports from Walt’s Park (and that other park across the esplanade)!

It’s been nearly 2 years since I’ve been to the Disneyland Resort and I’m excited to check out the changes and updates that I’ve missed since my last visit on September 10, 2022. Of course, I looked up the date.

Here are the 5 new (to me) things that I’m most looking forward to experiencing:

5: San Fransokyo

While I’m not necessarily a huge fan of Big Hero 6, I’m excited to see what they’ve done with the former Pacific Wharf area. Combine fun new decor and some new food options and I’m there!

4: Downtown Disney Updates

I have a feeling that I’m not going to recognize the west end of Downtown Disney. I’m looking forward to seeing how construction has progressed and I also can’t wait to visit Din Tai Fung, because both the space and the food look incredible.

3: World of Color: One

I don’t think I’ve seen any videos of this newest iteration of World of Color (sorry, Craig), so I’m going into this with an open mind and heart. Disney, however, almost always presents a fabulous nighttime spectacular, so I’m hopeful that this one is no different.

Speaking of nighttime spectaculars…

Fantasmic! Disneyland

2: Fantasmic!

Everything old is new again.

I don’t see it nearly as often as I should because of the crazy logistics involved, but Fantasmic! is hands-down the best nighttime spectacular that Disney has created. I’m glad that they finally came to their senses and brought back the Peter Pan sequence. However, I’m withholding judgment for now on the finale.

1: Mickey’s ToonTown

Like the changes with Downtown Disney, I feel like I’m not going to recognize ToonTown. I want to spend a lot of time exploring all of the new details. It’s also not very often that you get to experience a new attraction, and from what I’ve seen of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, it is not to be missed. I just hope I don’t find myself singing the song the rest of the day.

Bonus: MagicBand+

I’m weird and I know it. During my trips to Walt Disney World, I’ve enjoyed the convenience of MagicBands (and enjoyed accessorizing with them…so many colors), so I will definitely be hitting the Emporium for a MagicBand or three. I may have to do some research to see how well it actually works at the Disneyland Resort.

What did I miss? Those are my top 5+ new and updated experiences that I’m looking forward to when I head back to the Disneyland Resort, but is there anything else that should have been on my list?
