What is a Disneybound? Originally coined by Canadian blogger, Leslie Kay, Disneybounding is a growing trend in every Disney park worldwide, where guests create outfits to represent a Disney character. Not to be confused with Cosplay, Disneybounding respectfully takes into consideration the park rules on adult costuming. Disneybounding is all about getting creative with color blocking and the clever use of accessories to emulate a character with regular clothing items found in stores.
In recent years, Disneybounding has evolved into an art form, and many different styles of this trend have emerged. For example, a guest may choose a simple look consisting of a color blocked outfit. Another guest may choose to create DIY clothing and accessories to celebrate their favorite character.
Twice a year, Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Paris Resorts celebrate an unofficial event known as Dapper Days. The next upcoming Dapper Days fall on September 9th at Disneyland Paris, November 5th at Disneyland, CA, November 18th at Magic Kingdom, and November 19th at Epcot in WDW. Many fans who enjoy dressing in vintage regularly have adapted to a style some refer to as Dapper Bounding. My husband and I regularly attend the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA in this style of Disneybound!
As lifelong park guests in both Orlando and Anaheim resorts, we have found that dressing in vintage styled Disneybounds from bygone eras has truly kept the magic alive. One of the most rewarding results of this is the joy and smiles we encounter from many park guests, as well as the many words of gratitude we receive from Cast Members.
Disneybounding is for everyone, young and old! It doesn’t matter if it is casual or dapper; as long as it adheres to park regulations, you too can keep the magic alive in this fun and creative way! Why not try it out on your next vacation to any of the Disney Parks and Resorts?
