If there is one thing that comes to mind when I think about Disneyland, it’s the cherished memories of loved ones passed. As a young child, I was privileged enough not only to visit Disneyland from the beaches of Australia but also to do so with both my parents and grandparents to create memories with. From the first time we walked down Main Street, U.S.A. as kids, to walking the same streets with our children, my sister and I are lucky to have our grandparents front and center in our memories of the parks.
Earlier this week, as part of the Disneyland 70th Anniversary celebration, Disney Parks released a 54-second clip on YouTube that hit me in all those feelings. At first, I shed a tear, but ultimately, I was left reminded of how lucky I was to spend that time with family over the years, and what a joy it is to say I can continue this with my own family. That’s when I knew I needed to share this short and sweet moment with all of you.
At Disneyland, happiness is generational. Since 1955, more than 300,000 cast members have followed in Walt’s footsteps to welcome guests to The Happiest Place on Earth, and we can’t wait for everyone to Celebrate Happy during our 70th anniversary.
Oh, Hank. Just that kindness in your eyes has triggered something in me that I can’t quite explain. Let me see if I can find the words (through all the tissues) and return to you tomorrow. In the meantime, let me know if this one hit you as hard as it did me.
