Thanks to Todd Martens of the LA Times, we have a first look at the long-awaited reimagined Bride character who resides in the Attic of the Haunted Mansion in Disneyland.
After some recent visual additions hinting at a new design for the Bride character, the fan community speculated what she would look like, and if her story would change. We finally have our answers!
The Imagineers went back to the Mansion’s previous “Beating Heart Bride” designs and the sad (less-murderous) story of lost love. Through the latest projection technology, the Bride now appears as a “floating ghost” in the Attic. Possessing a grief-stricken look, the heartbroken Bride mourns the loss of her past husbands. She has a much clearer and defined face than ever before. Instead of wielding an axe, she’s now holding the candelabra we see floating earlier in the ride down the Endless Hallway. This candelabra will materialize a third time in a crypt within the Cemetery scene.
What do you think of this change? Disneyland’s Haunted Mansion reopens to guests tomorrow, January 18th. There’s no word if or when Walt Disney World’s version will receive this update… yet!
