New Update for Alaska Airlines Star Wars-themed Aircraft

Hey Disneyland friends. I don’t know about you, but growing up, the idea of getting on a Disney-themed plane was one of the most exciting things I could think of, especially if Disneyland was waiting for you at the other end. Alaska Airlines has been delivering exactly that kind of magic for years with its one-of-a-kind Disneyland Resort aircraft, and now the fan-favorite design has received a brand-new update inspired by Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu. The aircraft already celebrated Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at the Disneyland Resort, but now Din Djarin and Grogu have officially joined the adventure in honor of the film’s release today, May 22nd.

The refreshed design also ties in with the new mission arriving at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, which debuts at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort today as well. It’s one of those fun little moments where Disney storytelling spills out beyond the parks and into everyday life, and you already know I love that. Most of us spend so much time rushing through airports, flights, and travel days that seeing a giant Star Wars-themed aircraft pull up to your gate suddenly makes the whole experience feel a little more exciting.

What I really love about projects like this is how they turn the logistics of a vacation into part of the adventure. Getting to Disneyland isn’t always glamorous, especially coming from a long distance away. Airports can be chaotic, everyone’s tired, and someone is always dragging an oversized suitcase through the terminal at top speed. But then something like this comes along and reminds you that Disney is very good at sprinkling little pieces of fandom into unexpected places. Suddenly, boarding your flight feels less like transportation and more like the beginning of the story.

And for Star Wars fans, this update arrives at the perfect time. Between the new Smugglers Run storyline and the upcoming Mandalorian and Grogu film, there’s a lot of excitement building around this corner of the galaxy, far, far away. If I spotted this plane waiting outside my gate, I’d probably still react exactly the same way I would have as a kid, even if I wasn’t getting on it. Some things never really lose their magic, and this is the perfect example of how Disney’s attention to the smallest details can end up making the biggest impression on guests.
